After United's 3-1 loss to Brighton in the Premier League last weekend, head coach Amorim said they are "the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United". But rather than walking back his claim, the 39-year-old admitted the Red Devils' results were "really bad" and that sugar-coating things will not help.

He told reporters: "I am not taking the responsibility from the players. I am saying, and I am really direct in these things, at this moment we are performing really badly and our results are really bad. I'm saying the obvious. If you want, I can be delusional and say different things. But I say it as I saw it. I think it is a good thing to be really honest. You saw one thing, I saw one thing. If you are in the stadium you can understand it. So let's face it and work on it."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Amorim's comments may have been a bit strong, particularly as United have been relegated on a number of occasions. But for one of the biggest clubs in the world, they should be doing far better than sitting 13th in the Premier League after spending hundreds of millions on players.
