Victor Wanyama’s performances for Tottenham Hotspur are not generally waxed lyrical about, but he does a vital job.The 25-year-old moved to White Hart Lane from Southampton last year for a fee thought to be in the region of £11m.Wanyama has a number of responsibilities as a defensive midfielder, and one of them is to snatch the ball of his opponent. As SquawkaÂclaims, the Kenyan has won more tackles than any other midfielder since his move to the Premier League in 2013, when he joined Southampton from Celtic.[ad_pod id=’now-tv’ align=’centre’]

It is worth noting, though, that in Wanyama’s role discipline is important, and in the last three-and-a-half years, the midfielder has picked up 27 yellow cards and has been sent off three times in 107 appearances in the top flight.

Wanyama, who is the only Spurs player to feature in all 22 league games this season, has also committed 210 fouls since moving to England.

The ex-Southampton man showed his versatility at the weekend when he slotted into the centre-back role for the end of Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Manchester City after Toby Alderweireld suffered an injury.
